| Comprehensive IP SAN Administration: Nimbus
SAN Manager |
| Storage management is one of the most significant
challenges facing IT organizations today, but Nimbus changes
all that. Using the Nimbus SAN Manager software, IT personnel
can configure, partition, provision, and monitor Nimbus
IPS systems and the IP SAN through one intuitive web-based
interface. Nimbus SAN Manager is accessed by simply entering
the IP address of the IPS system you wish to manage into
a web browser. Without requiring new training, Nimbus
SAN Manager accelerates the deployment of IP SANs and
simplifies on-going storage administration tasks. |
| Key Features of Nimbus SAN Manager |
Automatic RAID set configuration (RAID 0, 1,
and 5) with utilization reporting |
Built-in storage partitioning, creating Virtual
Disks to be assigned to hosts |
Dynamic on-the-fly expansion, reduction, and
reassignment of storage volumes |
Host/Virtual Disk access control lists for setting
permissions (i.e. LUN masking) |
Complete system and SAN health/performance monitoring
with email notification |
Built-in security (single/mutual CHAP authentication,
user management, & SSL) |
Web-based interface, accessible through a Nimbus
appliance's IP address |
Optional Remote Control feature enables centralized
control of Initiator logins |
| |
| Comprehensive & Intuitive Interface |
 |
| |
| Advanced Volume Management Made Simple |
| Nimbus SAN Manager provides the necessary
tools for configuring users and passwords, port settings,
and routing tables for accessing IPS appliances. Within
the management view, administrators can select RAID 0
(striping), 1 (mirroring), or 5 (striping with parity)
for the Nimbus RAID Set and the system will automaticaly
configure itself accordingly. |
| |
| Advanced Volume Management Made Simple |
 |
| |
| Storage capacity is allocated to iSCSI Hosts as Virtual
Disks, which are partitions carved out of the RAID Set.
After specifying the parameters of the Virtual Disks,
access control can be specified, selecting read-only,
read-write, or no access to the Virtual Disk on a host-by-host
basis. As an administrator, Virtual Disks can be created,
assigned, reallocated, expanded, reduced, or deleted
with a few mouse clicks. SAN Manager's dynamic volume
management is 100% compatible with the dynamic disk
functionality built-in to the Windows Volume Manager,
enabling instant expansion of file systems without requiring
a host restart. |
| |
| Extensive Monitoring and Security Feature |
 |
| |
| Access to Nimbus SAN Manager can be password protected,
and administrators can also setup guest accounts that
have monitoring-only access to the IP SAN. Nimbus SAN
Manager also supports SSL encryption and HTTPS to protect
against unauthorized access.
Single or mutual CHAP authentication ensure secure
access by hosts to Virtual Disks. This provides greater
security while also eliminating the risk of data loss
caused when unauthorized hosts attempt to take control
of SAN volumes (a typical issue in Fibre Channel SANs
that requires significant IT resources to prevent). |
| |
| Since Nimbus solutions are based on IP, the Nimbus SAN
Manager software can allocate storage capacity to any
host running an iSCSI initiator with an IP address, even
over great distances, ideal for creating a cost-effective
disaster recovery plan. For example, identical Virtual
Disks from Nimbus appliances in San Francisco and New
York City can be mounted as local disks by one server,
enabling cost-effective mirroring or asynchronous data
replication without requiring specialized hardware. |
| |
| Nimbus Remote Control: Ultimate Flexibility
for Remote Office SANs |
 |
| |
| Nimbus Remote Control, an optional feature of SAN Manager,
enables administrators to centrally control how iSCSI
hosts (Initiators) log in and log out of their assigned
Virtual Disks. Designed for Microsoft Windows-based environments,
Remote Control eliminates the task of having to login/logout
of IP storage on each host individually within the Microsoft
iSCSI Initiator Control Panel. With Nimbus Remote Control,
admininistrators can centrally control the behavior
of all Initiators on the IP SAN, ideal for remote offices
and medium-sized IP SAN environments. |
| |
| Nimbus IPS storage appliances and SAN Manager software
are the perfect solution for building a powerful SAN to
serve a variety of IT needs, from accelerating backups,
consolidating servers, increasing storage utilization,
improving recovery time, deploying a DR plan, and eliminating
painstaking administration tasks. |
